How many Macs can I use it on?

A single license lets you use Wordy on up to 3 macOS devices. Combined with iCloud sync, your snippets stay in sync across all of them.

How does the AI feature work?

AI Snippet Generation is powered by Claude. It requires your own Anthropic API key, which you enter in Settings. Your API key is stored securely in macOS Keychain. The AI feature is completely optional — Wordy works perfectly without it.

Does Wordy track what I type?

All your data stays on your Mac or in your personal iCloud account. Wordy never collects, transmits, or stores any of your snippets or personal information on external servers.

Can I import from TextExpander?

Yes. Import your TextExpander CSV file and Wordy will automatically convert placeholders to the Wordy format. You'll see a preview with duplicate detection.

Which macOS versions are supported?

Wordy requires macOS 13.0 (Ventura) or later. It runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

What is a text expander?

A text expander is a productivity tool that lets you create short abbreviations (like ;sig or ;addr) that automatically expand into longer text snippets. Instead of retyping the same emails, addresses, or code blocks, you type a short trigger and the full text appears instantly.

Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Wordy ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

Intellectual Property

The App, including its code, design, graphics, trademarks, and all associated intellectual property, is owned by Tomasz Nowicki. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights to our intellectual property other than the limited license described below.

License

Wordy grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal or commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.

You may install and use the App on any Mac computers that you own or control.
You may not redistribute, sell, lease, or sublicense the App.
You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except where permitted by law.
You may not remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels on the App.

Free Trial

Wordy offers a 7-day free trial so you can evaluate the App before purchasing. The trial provides full access to all features. When the trial period expires, you must purchase a license to continue using the App. No credit card is required to start the trial.

Accessibility Permissions

Wordy requires macOS Accessibility permissions to function. This permission allows the App to monitor keystrokes locally on your device in order to detect text expansion triggers and replace them with your configured snippets. This is a sensitive system permission, and we want to be transparent about why it is needed:

Accessibility access is used solely for detecting typed triggers and performing text expansions.
Keystroke data is processed locally and never leaves your device.
No keystroke data is logged, stored, or transmitted to us or any third party.

You can revoke this permission at any time in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility. Revoking it will prevent Wordy from expanding text.

Purchases and Payments

Wordy is available as a one-time purchase. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Lemon Squeezy (Lemon Squeezy, LLC). Lemon Squeezy is the Merchant of Record for all orders and handles all customer service inquiries related to payments.

By making a purchase, you also agree to Lemon Squeezy's Terms of Service.

Refunds

All purchases are final and non-refundable, consistent with Lemon Squeezy's Terms of Service. We encourage you to use the 7-day free trial to evaluate Wordy before purchasing.

In exceptional circumstances (e.g. duplicate charges, technical issues preventing use), please contact us and we will review your request on a case-by-case basis.

Updates

Your license includes access to all future updates of the App. We may release updates to fix bugs, improve performance, or add new features. Updates may be required to continue using certain features.

User Content

You retain ownership of all content you create using the App, including snippets, text expansions, and configurations. We do not claim any rights to your content.

AI Features

Wordy offers optional AI-powered snippet generation using Anthropic's Claude API. These features require you to provide your own Anthropic API key.

API Key and Usage

You are responsible for obtaining and managing your own Anthropic API key from console.anthropic.com.
You are responsible for all usage and costs associated with your API key.
Your API key is stored locally in the macOS Keychain and is never transmitted to us.
By using AI features, you agree to Anthropic's Acceptable Use Policy and Terms of Service.

AI-Generated Content

AI-generated snippet suggestions are provided "as is" without warranties of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose.
You are responsible for reviewing and editing AI-generated content before use.
We are not liable for any errors, inaccuracies, or issues arising from AI-generated content.
You retain ownership of any snippets you create, whether manually or with AI assistance.

Data Processing

When you use AI features, your snippet content is sent directly to Anthropic's API. Please review our Privacy Policy and Anthropic's Privacy Policy for information on how this data is processed.

Limitations of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App.
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Tomasz Nowicki, trading as Wordy, from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or related to your use or misuse of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations under these Terms where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, acts of government, internet or infrastructure outages, pandemics, or third-party service disruptions.

Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your license if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the App and destroy any copies in your possession.

Modifications to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective when posted on our website. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Wordy operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Wordy regarding your use of the App, and supersede any prior agreements or communications.
